In 2008 I moved from a life time of oil painting and clay to the allure of bees wax - a melted medium that when a tree resin is added to harden and pigments are stirred in for color the possibilities of encaustic are endless.  After exploring many processes I gravitated to the texture, carving and sculpting aspects.
Encaustic also appealed to the environmental focus of my work as it is purely from nature - BEES - the  flowering plants, the wax, the honey.
Their mission - 'go forth and pollinate'.
Our ecosystem will not survive without them.
